
According to al-Watan daily, Salim bin Khalfan al-Balushi, a renowned Omani calligrapher, has calligraphed the copy in 12 years.
The handwritten Quran measures 75 by 55 and weighs 25 kilograms.
Its cover is made of parchment and has been embellished with gold and silver.
It also has a wooden case measuring 1.5 meters in length.
Oman’s Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs plans to publish the copy and distribute it in mosques around the country as well as other countries.
Born in 1960, al-Balushi mastered Arabic calligraphy in Egypt and has been teaching the art in Oman since 1992.

He has also written a book on Arabic calligraphy which is taught in calligraphy schools.
Oman is an Arab country in the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. The majority of the country’s population is Muslim.
