Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi noted that a large number of the country’s Quran activists are women, which makes it important to put more efforts into developing Quranic activities for this section of the society.
He made the remarks at a meeting of Iran’s Supreme Council for Coordinating Quranic Competitions.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi also said Quran competitions for women should be constantly evaluated in order for improvement.
Elsewhere, the official referred to the international Quran competitions held in the country and said efforts should be made to invite the best Quran activists from around the world in the contests.
The head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization also called for offering Quranic education services to underdeveloped countries.
Iran annually hosts an international Holy Quran competition to promote Quranic activities and enhance Islamic unity.
This year, a total of 130 Quran reciters and memorizers from 74 countries took part in the international event, held in May in the Iranian capital of Tehran.
