TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran competition was organized in South Africa on the weekend for students of the country’s Islamic schools.

The Iranian Cultural Center in Pretoria held the Quranic event on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Noor Mobin educational institute also cooperated in organizing the competition.

The participants competed in the categories of recitation and memorization of the Holy Quran.

Winners were awarded by the Iranian cultural center at the end of the contest.

South Africa is a country on the southernmost tip of the African continent.

Islam is a minority religion in the country, practiced, according to 2015 estimates, by roughly two percent of the total population.
