Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Saturday, Mohammad Taqi Hellisaz added that the remaining pilgrims are on their way home as well.
Noting that some 40 percent of the Iranian Hajj pilgrims this year were older than 60, he said some 24,000 of them were 70 and older and 700 were 80 and older.
There was only one death among the country’s pilgrims and that was due to a heart attack, he said.
There were no cases of contagious diseases seen among the pilgrims, according to the official.
Hellisaz also noted that the Iranian medical teams in Saudi Arabia provided 660,000 medical services to Iranians during this year’s Hajj season.
Nearly 86,000 Iranians made the Hajj pilgrimage this year.
Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca that every able-bodied and financially able Muslim is obliged to undertake at least once during their lifetime.
