Prominent Lebanese Qari Dies at 49

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Sheikh Khaled Barakat, an eminent Quran reciter in Lebanon, died of cancer.

 

Senior Jordanian Quran expert Samih Ahmed Khaled Athamena told IQNA that Barakat died on Sunday morning after a long illness.

He expressed condolences on the death of the Qari, who was the Sheikh-ul-Qura (top Qari) of the Aakkar governorate of Lebanon, and prayed God to bestow His infinite mercy to his soul.

Born in 1971, Barakat had Quran recitation certificates from Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center and a number of top Quran experts.

He was the prayer leader of the grand mosque in Tripoli and taught in a number of universities.

He was lately suffering from cancer and received chemotherapy.
