Renowned Lebanese Qari Laid to Rest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The funeral for Sheikh Khaled Barakat, a prominent Lebanese Qari who died Sunday, was held on Sunday evening.

 

It was held in Bebnin village in the Aakkar governorate with the participation of senior religious and political figures and a large number of people.

In a message from the Mufti of Lebanon that was read out at the funeral, the Mufti described the late Qari as a brother and friend and said his students and friends will continue his path of serving the Quran.

Sheikh Barakat was the Sheikh-ul-Qura (top Qari) of the Aakkar governorate.

Born in 1971, Barakat had Quran recitation certificates from Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center and a number of top Quran experts.

He was the prayer leader of the grand mosque in Tripoli and taught in a number of universities.

He was lately suffering from cancer and received chemotherapy.
