TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine in Karbala, Iraq, announced that 6 new medical centers have been established near the holy shrine ahead of Arbaeen.

According to the website of the Astan, Dr. Sattar Al-Saedi, general supervisor of the health center of the Astan, said the special medical project has been implemented following the guidelines set by Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalayi, the custodian of the holy shrine.

The project includes various phases, one of which is building equipped medical centers, he added.

A medical center with 15 hospital beds, an operating room, pharmacy and laboratory has been established in Bab-ol-Qiblah area of the holy shrine.

Similar centers have been launched at the intersection of Shohada Street and Kheymegah, near the Maqam of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his glad advent) and in Bayn al-Haramayn.

He added that two emergency medical centers have been set up for Al-Safeer Hospital and the Specialized Hospital of Imam Zayn-ol-Abedin (AS) and some stable and mobile medical teams work inside and outside of the holy shrine.

He noted that the custodian of the holy shrine has put more emphasis this year on taking necessary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus during Arbaeen pilgrimage, hence a specialized health center has been opened to provide the pilgrims with health and medical advice.

Al-Saedi went on to say that the project has been implemented in cooperation with Al-Safeer Hospital, Imam Zayn-ol-Abedin (AS) Hospital, Hazrat Zeynab (SA) Medical Center and Health Office of Karbala Province.
