Seminar to Discuss Features of Famous Quran Copies of Mamluk Era in Egypt

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A seminar is planned to be held on November 18 to discuss the features of the most famous Quran copies dating back to the Mamluk era in Egypt.

 

According to albawabhnews.com, the Muhamed Nagy Museum of Egypt will hold the seminar on the occasion of the International Day of the Islamic Art.

“Illumination and Paintings of Mamluk Period” is the title of the seminar, which will begin at 10 a.m. local time on Wednesday.

Adel Mohammad Hassan Ali, Muslim artist and designer from Egypt, will be among top participants in the program.

A workshop on the method of illumination and decorations in the Mamluk era will also be held during the seminar.

The International Day of Islamic Art was proclaimed at the 40th session of the UNESCO General Conference in 2019 and takes place every year on November 18. It aims to raise awareness of past and contemporary artistic expressions of Islam, and the contribution of culture through Islamic Art to civilization.

The Mamluk Sultanate was a medieval realm spanning Egypt, the Levant and Hejaz that established itself as a caliphate. It lasted from the overthrow of the Ayyubid dynasty until the Ottoman conquest of Egypt in 1517.
