TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quranic program was held in Tehran on Friday in commemoration of former commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Quds Force Lt. General Qassem Soleimani.

A number of prominent Qaris, Quran memorizers and veteran Quran activists took part in the program, hosted by Al-Zahra Husseiniya (religious center) in the capital.

A number of Qaris, including Saeed Parvizi, recited verses from the Holy Book at the Quranic event, in which Martyr Ahmad Anasri Asil, a Quran reciter martyred in the 1980 Iraqi-imposed war, was also commemorated.

Also, a number of Quranic figures delivered speeches at the program, elaborating on issues like the activities of Iran’s Quranic community, Iran’s political and religious affairs, and the recent developments in the region, such as the Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian nation.

General Soleimani, Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Deputy Commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and a number of their entourage were killed in a strike by American drones near Baghdad International Airport in the early hours of January 3, 2020.

The White House and the Pentagon claimed responsibility for the assassinations, saying the attack was carried out at the direction of then US president Donald Trump.
