TEHRAN (IQNA) – A competition on Quranic supplications was organized for women by Umm Al-Banin (SA) Online University affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas (AS) in the holy city of Karbala.

According to Al-Kafeel website, Ali Al-Bayati, head of the cultural affairs section of the Astan said 230 women took part in the contest.

He said it was the second edition of the competition held with the motto “Fa Inni Qareeb” (indeed I am near), taken from Surah Baqarah, verse 186.

Introduction of supplications in the Holy Quran was the main objective of the competition, he said.

Al-Bayati added that the event was unique in its kind since very few similar contests have been held so far in Iraq and other countries.

He further highlighted the importance of such competitions to promote the Quranic teachings particularly for those who do not have enough time to memorize the entire Quran.

The participants in the online competition were from 12 provinces of Iraq as well as countries such as Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Sweden.

From among the 230 women, Raghd Hamid from Baghdad, Roqayyah Abdul Hussein from Baghdad and Nazmiyyah Abdullah from Kirkuk were selected by vote to receive the prize.
