TEHRAN (IQNA) – Footage has been shared on social media of Quran recitation by late Egyptian master Shahat Muhammad Anwar.

In this video, he recites verses 30 to 33 of Surah Al-Furqan (25): “The Messenger says: 'O my Lord, my people have taken this Quran while deserting it.' To every Prophet We have appointed an enemy among the harmdoers; your Lord is Sufficient for you, a Guide and a Helper. The unbelievers ask: 'Why was the Quran not sent down to him all at once? ' As such We strengthen your heart thereby, and We have recited it very distinctly.”

Born in 1950 in Kafr el-Wazir village in Egypt’s Dakahlia Governorate, he started learning the Quran at a young age.

He learned the entire Quran by heart at 8 and when he was ten, his uncle took him to Kafr el-Maqam village to learn Tajweed recitation with Master Seyed Ahmed Fararahi.

Shahat Anwar’s beautiful voice and skillful recitation soon took him to prominence in Quranic circles in Egypt.

He died on January 13, 2007 at the age of 57 after a long period of illness.

His son, Mahmoud Shahat Muhammad Anwar, is also a renowned Qari.

Born in 1984, he memorized the entire Quran at the age of 12 and learned Quran recitation with his father.

He has won many top titles in national and international Quran competitions.

The top Qari has traveled to many countries, including Iraq, Iran, Qatar, the UAE, Algeria, Syria, Pakistan, South Africa, Greece, Turkey, and Belgium, for recitation of the Quran.
