TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) announced that Iraqi Quran memorizers can receive grants to study as affiliated universities under special conditions.

Sheikh Hassan al-Mansouri, director of the Astan's Dar-ol-Quran Center revealed the news on Thursday, according to the officials website of the Astan.

In a bid to encourage memorizers of the Holy Quran, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalayi, custodian of the Astan, approved the initiative launched by the Dar-ol-Quran Center for providing scholarship to memorizers of the Quran, Al-Mansouri said.

The initiative is set to be implemented in the upcoming academic year as colleges have their own set of requirements for the grant.

Al-Mansouri has also held talks with the President of the University of Warith Alanbiyaa Ibrahim Saeed Al-Hayawi, discussing the initial steps needed for a quick implementation of the plan.

The memorizers who receive the grant will represent their university in Quranic competitions and forums while also promoting the Quranic culture inside the universities, according to Al-Mansouri.
