Special Programs Due in Jamkaran Mosque on Sha’aban 15th

TEHRAN (IQNA) – According to officials, various programs will be held on the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his glad advent) in Qom’s Jamkaran Mosque.

Speaking in a press conference, head of the Mosque’s committee for special event Ebrahim Sadoughi said that a total of 6,000 men and women will help facilitate the programs Sha’aban 14 and 15 which falls on March 17 and 18.

He noted that 600 people will serve as health agents who will be stationed to observe health protocols.

Parking facilities of the mosque have the capacity to host 15,000 cars, he said, calling on people of Qom to use public transportation so that people who come from other cities can easily find a space for their vehicles.

According to Sadoughi, the main ceremony will be held at main courtyard of the mosque which has an area of 40,000 square meters if weather conditions are suitable.

He predicted that large number of people from various Iranian cities and even from other countries would come to Jamkaran Mosque to mark the ceremony.

Nimeh Sha’aban, or the 15th day of the lunar Hijri month of Sha’aban, marks the birthday of the twelfth Imam, Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent).

Every year on this auspicious occasion, the Jamkaran Mosque is visited by hundreds of thousands of worshippers.

Different parts of the mosque are decorated with lights, light threats, banners and flags.

Every year, millions of Shia Muslims around the world hold festivities to honor the event.

Iranians decorate and light up streets across the country to celebrate the occasion.

According to Islamic teachings, Imam Zaman is the prophesied redeemer, who will revive peace, administer justice and rid the world of evil.
