Addressing a gathering of Quran memorizers here in the Iranian capital on Monday, Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Asghar Sohrabi added that the Quran memorizer community should have more presence in cultural and social arenas.
There should be opportunities for memorizers to promote the Quran and Quranic teachings, he stated.
In addition to teaching Quran recitation and memorization to their students, qaris and Quran memorizers should also convey the teachings and message of the Holy Book to others, the cleric said.
It is not enough for them to benefit from the light of the Quran but should help others to benefit from it as well, he went on to say.
The Holy Quran is the only religious Scripture that is memorized by its followers.
Innumerable persons in every Muslim community have memorized the Quran since the first day it was revealed.
The Quran has 30 Juzes (parts), 114 Surahs (chapters) and 6,236 verses.
