Iran Int’l Quran Contest: Ten Contenders’ Performances Evaluated on Finals’ First Night
The recorded performances of the ten participants were chosen to be played by draw.
The first one was Ali Taha Latifi from Germany, who is competing in the recitation category of the students’ contest.
The 12-year-old, who lives in Hamburg, is also a memorizer of five Juzes (parts) of the Quran.
Next was Abdul Khaleq Ebrahimi from Afghanistan in the memorization of the entire Quran category. He is 29 and a teacher of the Quran.
The panel of arbiters also assessed the performances of Mohammad Reza Jafarpour from Iran (students’ memorization), Gholam Mustafa Ashrafi from Australia (recitation), Abdul Aziz Nurnasran (students’ memorization), Sharafeddin Elmi from Algeria (memorization for visually-impaired), Elham Mohammadaddin from Indonesia (recitation), Haitham Saqar Ahmad from Kenya (memorization of the entire Quran), Omar Abu Hafz from Syria (Tarteel) and Bilal Abdullah Ali from Yemen (recitation).
The final officially started in a ceremony in Tehran on Monday night.
A total of 62 qaris and memorizers from 29 countries compete in this stage of the event, which is being held virtually.
Simultaneously, the 5th international Quran contest for the visually-impaired, the 7th international Quran competition for school students, and the international Quran contest for women are also being held, virtually.
The participants have already recorded their performance and the panel of judges assess them in the four days of the finals.
Winners will be announced at the closing ceremony on Saturday.
