World Assembly of Islamic Awakening Chief Reiterates Support for Palestine
Ali Akbar Velayati, in a telephone conversation with Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, congratulated him on the great victories of the Palestinian nation, the public relations office of the assembly said.
He added that the “precious” struggle to save the oppressed Palestinian people from one of the “most brutal regimes in the history of mankind” will certainly bear fruits.
The Palestinian nation will certainly achieve ultimate victory based on the divine word: “if you help God, He will help you and make you steadfast,”(Surah Muhammad, verse 7) Velayati added.
Commitment to Islam has been the reason for the Palestinians’ continued and growing victories, he stated.
Velayati also referred to Iran’s support for Palestine since the victory of the Islamic Revolution and said the Islamic Republic continues to consider this support as a duty.
The Hamas official, for his part, thanked Iran for its stances in support of Palestine and appreciated the efforts of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening in defending the cause of Palestine.
Haniyeh also underline the Palestinian nation’s resolve to continue the path of resistance against the Zionist regime with firm steps.
Velayati also held a telephone conversation with Ziyad al-Nakhalah, the secretary general of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, during which the two sides discussed the latest developments in Palestine.
