All Iranian Hajj Pilgrims to Be Back Home by End of July

TEHRAN (IQNA) – All of Iranian pilgrims taking part in this year’s Hajj will return to the country by Friday, July 29, an official said.

Kamran Akbari, who is in charge of the transportation operations of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, said 12 to 14 daily flights are taking the pilgrims back to Iran from the airports in the cities of Medina and Jeddah.

Since the start of the pilgrims return on July 14, a total of 48 flights have been operated from the two airports to Iran, he noted.

Iran sent more than 39,000 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia to take part in the Hajj rituals this year.

Some one million pilgrims from different countries performed the Hajj this year after two years of restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca that every able-bodied and financially able Muslim is obliged to undertake at least once during their lifetime .

A large number Iranians are on a waiting list to make the Hajj pilgrimage.
