Iranian Artist to Attend Int’l Quranic Calligraphy Expo in Libya

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iranian calligrapher will take part in an international Quranic calligraphy exhibition in the Libyan capital city.

The exhibition is scheduled to be held on October 17-18 at Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli, according to Libya Al-Mustaqbal website.

Iranian artist Omid Rabbani will be among calligraphers from various countries who will attend the expo.

Farial al-Dali, the coordination of the expo, said other participants are from Egypt, Algeria, Syria, Iraq, Mauritania, Oman, Morocco, Jordan, Palestine, Turkey, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia, as well as two from the host country.

She said a number of Qurans calligraphed in different styles and scripts will be on display at the exhibition.

Each calligrapher will also bring one of his works featuring calligraphy of the Quranic verses, she added.

Al-Dali also noted that educational workshops and forums on Quranic calligraphy will also be held on the sidelines of the event.

Born in 1970 in Tehran, Rabbani is a calligraphy master and member of the Iranian Calligraphy Association.

He has won many awards in different international calligraphy events, including an award given by the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) in the Turkish city of Istanbul in 2015 and another in an exhibition in Shrajah, the United Arab Emirates, in 2016.
