Masoud Nouri, Iran’s representative in Malaysia’s 62nd international Holy Quran competition

Before leaving Tehran to attend the contest in Kuala Lumpur, Masoud Nouri told IQNA in an interview that after securing his place in the finals during the preliminary round back in July, he started regular practices to be ready to be a good representative for the country in the major Quranic event.

He noted that since Quran master Nosratollah Hosseini was named as a guide a few weeks ago to help him in the contest, he continued his practicing under the Quran expert’s supervision.

The qari added that he has received a copy of the regulations of the competition held in 2015 and has adapted his recitations to the regulations.

He said that usually no major changes are made in the regulations in different years.

Born in 1979, Nouri is married and has two children. He is currently a PhD student in the field of electric engineering.

The 62nd edition of Malaysia’s international Holy Quran competition, officially known as Malaysia International Al-Quran Recital and Memorization Assembly (MTHQA) was held online in the preliminary stage. The finals will be organized in-person, starting tonight.

On Tuesday evening, the draw ceremony for the competition was held and based on the draw, Iran’s contender will be the first participant to go on the stage after the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday night.

Nouri will recite verse 156 of Surah Al-Imran.

According to officials, 41 individuals from 31 countries are set to participate in the final round, which will run until October 24 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC).
