Punjab Gov’t to Present ‘University of Quran and Seerat Studies Bill’ to Provincial Assembly
Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi made the announcement during a meeting with a delegation of ulema headed by Wafaqul Madaras Al-Arabia president Maulana Muhammad Taqi Usmani on Sunday.
The chief minister highlighted that that he had immediately restored the Quran Board after assuming office, while studying Nazira and Quranic translation had been made compulsory for students in every school and college of the province. He maintained that drawing the minds of the students towards the religion would lead to forming a strong nation.
He said that around 100,000 jobs were being created for the Ulema (scholars) and Huffaz (Quran memorizers) to teach the students.
He stated that Allah Almighty had bestowed on him the distinction to introduce the first ever legislation for the eradication of interest from the province, adding that a 10-year punishment had been fixed over receiving interest at a private level. Legislation had also been done for incorporating the belief in Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (PBUH) in the marriage certificate.
The grade of Imam Masjid has been enhanced and they are also being given promotion, he said.
The chief minister directed the administration not to stop NOCs of mosques without any concrete reason.
Also, Maulana Taqi Usmani thanked the Punjab government for banning a ‘controversial’ movie.
