TEHRAN (IQNA) – Registration for the 16th edition of Al-Kawthar TV Channel’s international Quran competition will start on Saturday, February 4.

Inna lil-Muttaqina Mafaza

According to Al-Kawtahr TV’s website, the launch of registration will coincide with auspicious birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS), the first Shia Imam.

The registration deadline will be March 8, concurrent with the birth anniversary of Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent).

Those willing to take part in the Quranic event can sign up for the contest via the website mafaza.alkawthartv.ir or the TV channel’s pages on WhatsApp, Facebook and Telegram.

They are required to send a recorded file of their recitation of either verses 161 to 165 of Surah Al-An’am, or verses 142 to 144 of Surah Al-A’raf, or verses 110 to 115 of Surah Hud.

The duration of the recitation should be between two and three minutes.

The submitted files should include the full name of the qari, the country he is representing and his phone number.

The submitted recitations will be then analyzed by a panel of Quran experts and 96 of the contenders will be selected to compete for the top prize in the holy month of Ramadan.

From among them, 24 will make it to the semifinals and ultimately 5 top qaris will compete in the final round on the night before Eid Al-Fitr.

The phone-in Quran competition titled “Inna lil-Muttaqina Mafaza” (Indeed, for the righteous is attainment- Holy Quran, 78:31) is held in Ramadan every year.

It is the Muslim world’s biggest live Quran recitation competition aired by Al-Kawthar, an Arabic-language channel within the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting’s World Service.
