RIYADH (IQNA) – Pilgrims who wish to take photographs or videos at the Two Holy Mosques, Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, during the pilgrimage must follow a new set of guidelines issued by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

The ministry said these guidelines aim to improve the Hajj experience and preserve the sanctity of the holy sites.

The ministry also reminded pilgrims to concentrate on their acts of worship and devotion during the Hajj rituals.

In a tweet, the ministry asked pilgrims to observe some manners when taking photographs, so as not to bother or hurt other pilgrims.

One of the main guidelines is to avoid staying for long in crowded areas, as this can block the way of pilgrims and affect the movement within the holy sites.

Pilgrims should also keep away from designated routes and not hinder the smooth flow of people.

Moreover, the guidelines stress the need to respect the privacy of others.

Pilgrims are encouraged to be careful when taking photographs and not to capture images that may violate the personal space of fellow worshipers.

The recommendations come as more than one million pilgrims have already arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj pilgrimage this year as Saudi Arabia has lifted curbs that it had imposed on the number of pilgrims over the past three years due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Hajj is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world and is considered a religious duty that must be completed during the life of every healthy and economically capable Muslim.
