TEHRAN (IQNA) – The United Nations and its Security Council have failed Palestine, an Iraqi political analyst said.

Iraq political analyst Ali Al-Sahib

Ali Al-Sahib, who heads the Baghdad Regional Studies Center, made the remark in an international webinar held Wednesday to address the failure of international law and organizations to protect Palestinians in the face of Israeli state terrorism.

Organized on the day marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People by International Quran News Agency, the webinar, titled “Israeli Terrorism and Failure of International Humanitarian Law”, was attended by a group of experts from different countries.

In his address, Ali al-Sahib, criticized the United Nations for failing to fulfill its responsibilities regarding the people of Palestine, saying the international body and its Security Council did nothing more than naming a day as the day of solidarity with Palestinians.

They have failed to take decisions and adopt resolutions against the Zionist regime, he deplored.

That is why the UN cannot convince nations that it is an impartial and fair institution that strives for resolving the world’s problems, al-Sahib stressed.

He praised the Palestinian nation for facing the brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip with courage, bravery and great sacrifices.

Lauding the Palestinian resistance forces for launching the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation, the Iraqi analyst said it is a bright light in today’s world and the harbinger of a new stage which would mark the beginning of the end of the Zionist regime.

God willing, the world will soon witness the victory of Palestinians and establishment of an independent Palestinian state with the holy city of al-Quds as its capital, he went on to say.

He also hailed the widespread support for Palestinians and the people of Gaza, saying the world nations, held huge rallies in different countries, including those supporting the Tel Aviv regime like the US, Britain and France, and condemned the Israeli regime’s crimes and atrocities.

This is clear evidence that the issue of Palestine has taken new and broader dimensions, he added.
