Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, in a statement on X, confirmed the launch of the investigation after anti-Islamic remarks were found inscribed on a wall.
Darmanin expressed solidarity with the local Muslims in the village of Guingamp, claiming that such hateful actions have no place in France.
The mayor of Guingamp, Philippe Le Goff, condemned the incident, stating, "It's racist, deplorable, and scandalous," as reported by France Bleu media outlet.

The vandalism comes amid increased anti-Muslim hate crimes in Western countries in the wake of Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since October 7.
