Mauritania Holds Contest to Select Representatives in Int’l Quran Competitions

IQNA – A nationwide Quran competition is underway in Mauritania that seeks to select the African country’s representatives for upcoming international Quran competitions.

 

Nearly 500 contestants, including 90 females, have taken part in the competition that started on Monday.

Organized by the country’s ministry of Islamic affairs, the competition aims to select Mauritania representatives in contests that will be held in different countries such as Malaysia, UAE, Kenya, Kuwait, etc.

Addressing the inauguration event, Mauritania's Minister of Islamic Affairs Dah Ould Sidi Ould Amar praised the extensive participation of qaris and memorizers in this edition of the event.

He said that the competition will act as a complementary to the national Quran contest that is held every year.
