Mosque Destroyed in Massive Fire in Srinagar

IQNA – A massive fire in the Malaratta area of Srinagar, Indian-administered Kashmir, destroyed a mosque and other buildings.

Officials said on Monday that the fire has been contained after destroying a mosque, a few shops, and residential homes.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Bilal Mohiudin, said, "A mosque, a few shops, and residential houses were gutted in the fire...12 fire tenders, including hydraulic cranes, have been deployed. Fire is under control..."

"We will ascertain the cause of the fire," DC Mohiudin said before leaving for the fire spot.

At least four firefighter were injured during the operation to put out the fire.

The fire reportedly broke out from Bazaar Masjid Bohri Kadal and spread to nearby buildings quickly.
