Egyptian Association Vows Legal Action against Qaris Who Disrespect Book of God

IQNA – Egypt’s Association of Quran Reciters and Memorizers warned qaris against any action that is considered disrespectful to the Book of God.

In a statement, the association stressed that legal action would be taken against any qari, famous or unknown, who disrespects the Holy Book, Bawaba Ruz al-Yusuf website reported. 

Earlier, Head of the association Sheikh Mohamed Hashad called on people to invite competent qaris to their Quran recitation programs and seek help from teh association in this regard.

This comes after a qari named Samir Antaer answered his mobile phone while reciting the Holy Book.

He was reciting the Quran at a mourning service when his cell phone rang. He stopped the recitation and answered his phone before resuming the recitation. 

His move has drawn widespread criticism in Egypt.
