Dubai Int’l Quran Contest: Young Participants Share Their Journey in Quran Memorization

IQNA – Several young participants in the 8th edition of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak international Quran competition for women have shared their journeys in Quran memorization.

 

Dhai bint Muhammad bin Nasser Al-Habsiyah, a 13-year-old representative from the Sultanate of Oman and one of the youngest participants in the competition, shared her experience.

"I am an eighth-grade student. My family environment encouraged me to memorize the Quran. From my parents to my aunt and even my grandmother, all are interested in reciting and memorizing the Quran," she said, Sharjah24 reported on Monday.

"I started memorizing the Quran at around four years old and completed it by the age of seven," she added.

Fatma bint Jalloh, a representative from Senegal and a second-year university student at the College of Foreign Languages, says she began memorizing the Quran at the age of fourteen with the encouragement of her parents and teacher. She completed the memorization in two years.

"The Quran opens the mind and brings a person closer to the Lord," she stressed.

Muniya Ahmed Al-Saghir Hassan Al-Qadhi, a representative from Libya and a third-year university student studying public health, started memorizing the Quran at the mosque when she was six years old and completed it by the age of fourteen. She has six brothers, three of whom are also Quran memorizers.

Speaking about her experience, she said, "I started with memorizing short surahs and then gradually completed the entire Quran. Turning to the Quran has been very helpful in my life, and when I face difficulties in studying or exams, I turn to the Quran."

The competition continues today, with 12 participants competing in morning and afternoon sessions.

The 8th edition of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak international Quran competition for women started on Saturday in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

A total of 60 Quran memorizers from various countries are taking part in this edition of the competition.

The contest will run until September 13 at the Cultural and Scientific Association.
