He made the remark during a meeting that Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud had with him in the Qatari capital of Doha on Thursday.
“We consider Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia, our brothers and emphasize the need for putting aside differences and moving toward more convergence and synergy as we believe what spread Islam in the world was friendship and fraternity among Muslims,” Pezeshkian said.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian president referred to the deplorable events in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon as a result of the Israeli regime’s aggressions, saying Muslims should not remain indifferent to plight of their brothers and sisters in Palestine and Lebanon.
It is due to the discord among Muslim countries that the Zionist regime dares to commit crimes and genocide in Gaza, he stated.
Pezeshkian also referred to the Iranian Armed Forces’ missile strike against Israel on Tuesday and said that while the Islamic Republic does not seek escalation of tensions and crises in the region, it carried out the decisive operation in response to the Tel Aviv regime’s crimes.
The Saudi top diplomat, for his part, conveyed greetings to Pezeshkian from the Arab country’s crown prince and stressed Riyadh’s determination to develop ties with Tehran.
