Seminary Students from 10 Countries Attending Najaf Quran Competition

IQNA – An international Quran competition is underway in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq, with the participation of seminary students from 10 Muslim countries.

It has been organized by the Najaf Quran Center, affiliated to the Quran Scientific Assembly of the Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine, al-Kafeel reported. 

Sayed Mohnad al-Miyali, the director of the center said the international Quran cotest is specifically for students of the Najaf seminary from different countries.

He said it is aimed at enhancing their mastery and understanding of the Quran.

In the preliminary evaluation stage, there were one hundred students, 40 of whom, who are from 10 Islamic countries, made it to the main stage, he said.

Participants are competing in various categories, including memorization of 5 Juzes (parts), 10 Juzes, and the entire Quran, as well as in the fields of reflection and research on the Quran, the official noted.

He went on to say that the contest provides an opportunity for the students of the Najaf seminary to enhance their Quranic knowledge through understanding, contemplation, and interpretation of the Quran, alongside strengthening their recitation and Tajweed skills.
