Preparations Continue for Iran’s 41st Int’l Quran Contest

IQNA – The organizing committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s 41st International Holy Quran Competition continues preparations for the contest, an official said.

Jafar Hosseini, the head of the Quranic Affairs at Khorasan Razavi Awqaf and Charity Affairs Department, noted that the competition is annually held ahead of the blessed day of Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Mab’ath (appointment to prophethood).

This year, too, it will start ahead of Mab’ath at the Quds Hall of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad on January 26, he said. 

Hosseini noted that the closing ceremony will take place on January 31, during which winners in the categories of Quran recitation, memorization and Tarteel in the men and women sections will be named and awarded.  

Describing it as one of the most significant Quranic events on an international level, he said the competition has received widespread enthusiasm from reciters and memorizers of the Quran from around the world.

So far, several meetings have been held by the organizing committee to ensure that this edition of the competition is as grand as possible, and these meetings are still ongoing, he went on to say.

The International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran is annually organized by the country’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.

It aims to promote the Quranic culture and values among Muslims and showcase the talents of Quran reciters and memorizers.
