A total of 40 contestants from 33 countries will be competing in the international Quranic event.
The competition will be held under the supervision of Mostafa Madbouly, the prime minister of Egypt, with the support of Mohab Habashi, the governor of Port Said.
Quran memorization and Ibtihal are the categoires of the contest.
Adel Al-Mosilhi, the chief supervisor and executive director of the competition, said the opening ceremony will take place at the As-Salaam Mosque with the participation of a number of officials, including the country’s Awqaf minister, grand Mufti and representative of Al-Azhar’s Sheikh.
Winners will be named and awarded at the closing ceremony on Monday, February 3, he said.
He added that this year’s edition will be held in honor of the esteemed position and significant role of Sheikh Muhammad Sidiq Minshawi, the late Egyptian qari.
