Reading, Memorizing Quran Bring Blessings to Life: Lebanese Qari

IQNA – Reading and memorizing the Holy Quran, along with other Quranic activities, foster a sense of closeness to the Holy Book in a person’s heart, a Lebanese qari said

Lebanese Qari Houra Haidar Hamza represented her country in the recitation category of Iran’s 41st International Holy Quran Competition

 

Houra Haidar Hamza, who represented her country in the recitation category of Iran’s 41st International Holy Quran Competition and came third in this category, added that they also improve one’s character and bring blessings and success into their life, positively affecting both the individual and those around them.

Speaking to IQNA, the 23-year-old said, “I studied mathematics at university, but I did not continue in this field and turned to the Holy Quran. Thank God, I was able to make significant progress in three years. I am currently a Quran teacher in the city of Karbala and teach at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS).”

She said it is her first time participating in the International Quran Competition in Iran.

“I have participated in other international competitions, such as the one held in Brazil, but all of them were conducted online. I won the top title in the Brazilian competition.”

Asked about the level of this competition and the status of female Quran reciters in Iran, she said, “The level of female Quran reciters in Iran reflects the attention and dedication of the Iranian people to the Holy Quran and the growth of Quranic skills. Regarding the level of this competition, it must be said that it is exceptionally high, especially considering that all the participants are elites from various countries, and in the preliminary stage, the best reciters and memorizers from each country has been selected.”

As for the holy city of Mashhad hosting the competition this year, she described it as a very good initiative.

“It is by the grace of God and the hospitality of Imam Reza (AS) that we have been invited to this noble place (holy shrine of Imam Reza). I hope that other competitions in the coming years will also be held here, as it provides positive energy for us to continue on this path.”

She was also asked about the role of Quran competitions in motivating young people.

“(Quran competitions could be) prelude to practicing the teachings of the Holy Quran. They encourage memorizing and reciting the Quran, which leads to the development of strong Quranic personalities in society who implement divine commandments,” she stated.

The International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran is annually organized by the country’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.

The competition aims to promote the Quranic culture and values among Muslims and showcase the talents of Quran reciters and memorizers.

The final round of the 41st edition concluded in a ceremony on Friday in Mashhad, where winners in different categories were named and awarded.
