IQNA – The head of Egypt’s Association of Quran Reciters denied the rumors about alleged recitation mistakes by prominent qari Sheikh Abdul Fattah Taruti and the referral of the matter for investigation.

Egyptian qari Sheikh Abdul Fattah Taruti

Sheikh Mohamed Hashad said in a televised interview that the claim that there were 32 mistakes in Taruti’s recitation during Friday prayers at the Al-Salam Mosque in Port Said, is not true, and no warning has been issued to this Egyptian reciter regarding this matter, el-Balad News reported.

He said, “A committee has been following up on this matter, but nothing has been sent to us in this regard, and no complaint or report about any mistake in Sheikh Taruti’s recitation has been recorded.”

Sheikh Hashad said what is happening under these circumstances indicates that meaningful actions are being taken against Quran reciters in Egypt.

He also stated that a committee from Egypt’s Quran Radio monitors and follows the Friday prayers live, observing every event during the ceremony. “If any errors occur, they are immediately identified and reported to the head of Quran Radio. Should there be issues with the recitations, the committee writes a detailed report for the head of Quran Radio to take the necessary actions.”

Joudah Mohamed, the director of the Taruti Quran Recitation Cente, also dismissed the rumors, saying, “The news claiming that Sheikh Abdul Fattah Taruti’s recitation was incorrect is like a comedy film.”

He added that last Friday’s recitation is currently available on social media and on Sheikh Taruti’s page, and everyone can watch it to see whether there are any mistakes in it or not.
