IQNA – An Iraqi political analyst said the war on Gaza was part of a US-Zionist plot to end the axis of resistance in the region.

Iraqi political analyst Sannan al-Saadi

Speaking in an interview with IQNA about the situation in Gaza and the ceasefire between Hamas and the Israeli regime, Sannan al-Saadi said US President Donald Trump now seeks to complete this project.

Stressing that the people of Palestine emerged victorious in the Gaza war, he said that despite suffering huge losses and offering many martyrs, the Palestinians remained steadfast on the path of resistance.

He added that the ceasefire agreement was a humiliation for the Zionist regime, but Benjamin Netanyahu had to accept it because the regime suffered enormous losses in the war.

International pressures and condemnations from the international community as well as domestic political and economic problems also played a role in forcing Tel Aviv to accept the ceasefire, al-Saadi stated.

As for Israel’s lack of commitment to the ceasefire deal, he said history shows that the Zionists do no remain committed to their undertakings.

On the other hand, he said, Hamas considers resistance and forcing the occupiers out of the holy lands a duty.

Thus, this ceasefire and other agreements are merely a chance for both sides to catch their breath, and the conflict will likely resume; it is not impossible, even if some factors may delay it, he said.

Asked about Trump’s recent remarks on Gaza, he said, “We all know there is a Zionist-American project in the region that was implemented in Gaza, then in southern Lebanon and Syria. The only obstacles remaining for the realization of this project are the Houthis and Iraqi groups.

Therefore, we see that Trump was serious about ending the Gaza war to then focus on defeating the Houthis and Iraqi groups, ultimately aiming to bring Iran to negotiations based on American terms. In other words, Trump is pursuing what others have started: ending the resistance axis in the region and further pressuring Iran into negotiations under American conditions.”

Al-Saad was also asked about the future of the relations between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority.

He said there will be no promising future for the relations between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, especially since neither side trusts the other, and as we mentioned, there is an existential and legitimacy tension between the two.

The Gaza Strip is the focal point of future conflict between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, he went on to say.
