It was organized at the headquarters of the Dar-ul-Quran of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine, on the Baghdad-Karbala road.
The branches of the Dar-ul-Quran in the provinces of Babylon and Diwaniyah participated in the contest.
Wassam Nadhir al-Delfi, head of the Quranic Media Center of the Astan, said the preliminary stage of this competition was held with the participation of 20 male and 20 female contenders, with 16 male and female participants passing the preliminary stage and advancing to the finals.
The competition consisted of two tests; the first test was written and scored 40 and the second test was oral and based on performance and recitation of the Quran with a score of 60, he noted.
In the end, three participants in each of the men’s and women’s divisions won the top rankings, he added.
According to al-Delfi, the competition ended with a special ceremony to honor the best and was the first experience in the field of thematic memorization of the Quran.
After success in this experimental stage, it is planned to be held in other branches of the Dar-ul-Quran in Iraq, he noted.
In the men’s section of the competition, Mohammad Yahya Jaber from the Diwaniyah branch came first, and Haider Hamzeh Hussein from the Babylon branch and Ahmad Hassan Abbas from the Diwaniyah branch came second and third, respectively.

Also, Zahra Hussein Ali, Batul Asad Abdul Zahra and Naba Abbas Jassim, all three from the Babylon branch, won first to third places in the women’s section.
