Russian Mufti Emphasizes Cooperation with Iran in Holding the BRICS Quran Award

Russian Mufti Roshan Abbasov stressed cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in organizing the BRICS Quran Award.

In a meeting with Chairman of the Tehran City Council Mehdi Chamran in Moscow, Abbasov emphasized the cooperation and support of the Iranian Embassy and its cultural attaché in various fields of spiritual diplomacy, especially in international projects such as the BRICS Holy Quran Award and the Moscow International Quran Recitation Competition, the winner of which in 2025 was a participant from Iran.

According to the public relations office of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, during the meeting that took place at the Moscow Grand Mosque, Abbasov conveyed greetings from Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, the spiritual leader of Russian Muslims, to the Iranian delegation.

He referred to the long-standing friendly relations between Russia and Iran and emphasized that most official visits by senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation have always included a visit to the Moscow Grand Mosque, which reflects the close spiritual relations between Moscow and Tehran.

Chamran, for his part, pointed out that the mosque is a manifestation of Islamic brotherhood.

It is a place that shows that all Muslims are brothers and equals and must be united, he stated.

The spirit of brotherhood, cooperation and fraternity arises from the mosque, which is necessary for the Muslims of the world today, he stated.

The chairman of the Tehran City Council added, "We have learned from the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that we should all be united and if a member of the Islamic community is oppressed, we must stand up against the oppression."

Chamran also said that Muslims have tried throughout history to build the best buildings for mosques, and in Iran, the most beautiful architectural works are related to mosques.
