IQNA – The deputy chairman of Hezbollah’s political council emphasized that the Lebanese government has distanced itself from its priorities, including liberating the land, freeing prisoners, stopping aggression, and maintaining sovereignty and reconstruction.

The resistance still plays the main role in defending the country, Mahmoud Qamati said.

He criticized the performance of the country's government and said, “The government, contrary to the ministerial statement and oath that it mentioned, has distanced itself from its priorities, including liberating the land, freeing prisoners, stopping aggression, maintaining sovereignty and reconstruction.”

Qamati emphasized that the monopoly on weapons and the expansion of the state’s power is the legitimate right of every country, but this monopoly does not include the Lebanese resistance groups because their main role is to defend the country.

He accused some parties of causing internal sedition and that they are responsible for the murder of Lebanese army personnel and officers, Maronite leaders, Sunni prime ministers, and the Sabra and Shatila massacre.

He addressed the Lebanese president and prime minister, saying the weapon that should be limited is the weapon of these parties, not the weapon of the resistance.

He continued by criticizing the United States, wondering why Washington equips these parties with all kinds of weapons, and their coffers are full of Arab money.

“Washington’s goal is to create the ground for civil war and weaken Lebanon against the Zionist enemy,” he stated.

Qamati emphasized that the government, the people, and the resistance must prioritize the security of Lebanon, not the security of the Zionist enemy.

He also reiterated the movement’s commitment to the Palestinian issue, saying: “Palestine is our first issue and we will never give up on it.”

Qamati added: “Lebanese resistance groups, whether Sunni, Shia, or Christian, will be united in all forms of resistance to maintain the security and stability of the country.”
