Exhibition Mounted on Sidelines of Egypt Int’l Quran Contest

IQNA – Egypt’s Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs has organized an exhibition on the sidelines of the country’s 32nd International Quran Competition.

The exhibition opened on Saturday, concurrent with the launch of the competition at the Egyptian Mosque in the administrative capital near Cairo, the Newsroom website reported.

It features a collection of publications of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Egypt, among other items.

At this event, the council has presented its latest intellectual and scientific works on contemporary issues, principles of moderation, and in line with developments in rational religious discourse.

The council has so far held numerous exhibitions in the country’s mosques with the aim of increasing knowledge and interaction of mosque worshipers with reliable scientific products and supporting the cultural movement in mosques, and these exhibitions have been effective in raising awareness and increasing knowledge of mosque imams, preachers, and worshipers, according to the website.

The 32nd international Quran competition of Egypt, organized by the ministry of Awqaf, is being held under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and named after late Sheikh Shahat Mohamed Anwar, one of the country’s most distinguished Quran reciters.

The opening ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by the late qari’s son Mahmoud Shahat Anwar.

Representatives of more than 70 countries are taking part in the competition, which will continue until December.

The value of the cash prizes this year reach 13 million Egyptian pounds, which is the highest value in the history of the country’s international Quran competitions.
