Anger over Islamabad Mosque Massacre Fuels Protests in India

IQNA – Protests erupted in the Indian-administered Kashmir and Kargil following a deadly suicide bombing at a Shia mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan, which killed dozens of worshippers during Friday prayers.

In response to a fatal mosque attack in Islamabad that killed dozens, public anger has manifested as street protests in Kashmir and the neighboring area of Kargil.

 

The demonstrators accused the Pakistani government of failing to protect the minority community in the country.

Denouncing the attack, the protestors expressed solidarity with the victims and their families and called for an end to the killings in the name of religion.

Placards carried by protesters demanded both justice for the victims and responsibility from Pakistani officials.

The Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the deadly suicide bombing that killed at least 31 people during Friday prayers at a Shia site in Islamabad on February 6, 2026.

City officials said 31 people died and another 169 were wounded in the explosion at the Imam Bargah Qasr-e-Khadijatul Kubra site on the city's outskirts.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed that those behind the blast would be found and brought to justice.
