IQNA – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf described the holy month of Ramadan as an opportunity for enhancing unity and solidarity in the Muslim Ummah.

In a message congratulating the beginning of Ramadan to his counterparts in Islamic countries, Ghalibaf called this month a precious opportunity to promote the noble human values, strengthen the solidarity of the Islamic nation, peace, spirituality, and deepen consultation and cooperation among Islamic countries.

“In the current critical circumstances, the Islamic world needs convergence, empathy, and effective parliamentary cooperation more than ever to confront challenges, defend the rights of Muslim nations, and support the oppressed, especially the oppressed people of Palestine,” he said in the message.

“I hope that the blessings of this holy month will pave the way for strengthening brotherly relations between the parliaments of Islamic countries and expanding parliamentary cooperation towards realizing common interests, lasting peace, and the progress of the Islamic Ummah,” he added.

Ramadan is the ninth and most sacred month of the Islamic calendar, in which Muslims commemorate the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, refraining from eating, drinking, and smoking.

They also devote more time to prayer, charity and good deeds, seeking to strengthen their faith and purify their souls.
