
The mosque built on Gram Sabha land in Lucknow was demolished at night. This action was taken after the order of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court. On the sixth day of the order, it was razed to the ground in the presence of tehsil-level officials. Heavy police force remained deployed during this time. At 3 AM on Wednesday night, 3 bulldozers arrived to demolish the mosque.
This case relates to the land of Gata number 648 located in village Asti of BKT tehsil, on which the mosque was constructed.
According to Tehsildar Sharad Kumar, Mohammad Sahibaan and Lal Mohammad of Asti village were served notices after the High Court's order. It stated that a mosque was built on government threshing ground. The same was stated at the tehsil level as well. They were ordered to remove the structure from there and were fined 36 thousand rupees.
The administration alleged that the mosque was illegally constructed by encroaching upon this very land. On the other hand, the Muslims of the area stated that the mosque was built about 60 years ago by the local Muslim community and it was not a new encroachment.

They also argued that they only go there to offer prayers and have no connection with the management of the mosque. Additionally, they questioned the hearing process, stating that they were not given the opportunity to cross-examine witnesses.
