
The international scholarly event titled “Translating the Meanings of the Holy Quran: Methods, Challenges and the Role of Technology’ was held virtually and concluded on Saturday.
The conference came up with a recommendation to establish a specialized center for translating the meanings of the Holy Quran under the supervision of the Omani Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.
The center would serve as a national platform dedicated to developing translation, supporting scientific research and enhancing training and collaboration among translators and researchers.
The three-day virtual conference, organized by Al Zahra College for Women in cooperation with the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, called for the development of precise scientific tools and standards for evaluating the quality of translations, analyzing the stylistic features of the Holy Quranic text, and documenting the historical development of Quranic translation.

The conference recommended revising old translations in light of modern linguistic and cultural developments to ensure accuracy of meaning and to establish specialized databases and research laboratories to support digital Quranic studies and develop scientific research tools.
