US Cleric Slams Trump’s Insult to Islam

IQNA – A religious figure and author in the US state of Michigan criticized the country’s president, Donald Trump, for insulting Islam in a recent social media post.

“Make no mistake: when Trump said ‘praise be to Allah,’ he was mocking Islam and insulting 2 billion Muslims around the world,” Sheikh Azhar Nasser wrote in a post on X.

“Shame on those Muslim countries that continue to stand with him as he denigrates Islam,” he added. “Where is your ghayrah for your deen?”

Sheikh Azhar Nasser was born and raised in Michigan and holds a degree in cultural anthropology from the University of Michigan.

After completing his university studies, he pursued his religious studies at the Najaf Seminary under the tutelage of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani and Grand Ayatollah Hakim.

In addition to his extensive study of classical religious texts, Sheikh Azhar Nasser has taught introductory courses to Western students at the seminary, and has a deep passion for the study of the Holy Quran that is evident in his lectures and discussions.
