IQNA – A Kuwaiti Quran reciter’s support for the brutal attack by the US and the Zionist regime on Iran has led to widespread anger and protests from users on social media.

Kuwaiti Quran reciter Mashary Rashid al-Afasi

Mashary Rashid al-Afasi has recently voiced support for the US-Israeli aggression on Iran.

Quoting the White House and supporting the US and Zionist regime’s war against Iran, he wrote on one of the social media networks: “Trump opens the gates of hell to Iran.”

His stance has caused the world’s most popular Quranic site to remove al-Afasi’s recitation from the default. The website’s action was widely welcomed and supported by Muslims around the world.

Al-Afasi had previously shown his solidarity with the Saudi-Emirati coalition by wearing a pilot’s uniform during attacks on Yemen. This time, however, supporting the criminal Trump and the Zionist regime against Iran has provoked a storm of Muslim anger.

Al-Afasi’s voice is still in the archive of the Quran.com website, but his name is no longer listed in the list of recitations when choosing a reciter to listen to.

One Iraqi user wrote in support of removing his name, saying, “Supporting oppressors is a red line (crossing which is intolerable), even if the reciter is a world-famous reciter.”

Sheikh Azhar Nasser, an Iraqi cleric, also wrote, “This is proof that you can be a world-famous reciter of the Quran and at the same time be a terrible person.”

Son Gilbert, a Muslim user, wrote, “It is narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said: “A (group of) people will emerge from my Ummah who will recite the Quran beautifully, but it will not go beyond their throats. They will leave the religion like an arrow that misses its target, and will never return. They are the worst of God’s creatures.”

“Reciting the Quran and acting on it are two different things, these people are not Muslims,” wrote social media user Yamina Sayed.

Sadaf Afarin Salaf, an Indian user, also wrote, “The example of those who were given the Torah and then did not fulfill it is like a donkey carrying books.”

Irfan Rao, another Indian user, wrote, “Remember that the Prophet (PBUH) said about the Khawarij that they would recite the Quran with a very beautiful voice.
