Iranian Cleric Stresses Cooperation of Divine Faiths in Strengthening Global Peace

IQNA – A senior Iranian cleric emphasized the role of cooperation among divine faiths in strengthening lasting peace in the world.

In a letter to Pope Leo XIV, Ayatollah Mehdi Hadavi Tehrani also hailed the pope’s efforts in promoting peace. 

“I pray to God Almighty that you will always be in good health, success and peace. I consider it necessary to express my deep appreciation and respect for you’re your valuable efforts in promoting peace, human dignity and constructive dialogue among the followers of divine religions.”

Highlighting the pope’s role in strengthening peaceful coexistence, reducing human suffering and expanding the moral teachings of religions is inspiring to the world, Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani said, “Undoubtedly, your emphasis on the common values ​​of monotheistic religions such as love, justice, forgiveness and preserving human dignity can play a profound role in bringing hearts closer and creating understanding between the followers of different religions.”

He added, “I believe that the cooperation of scholars and leaders of divine religions can be an effective step in strengthening lasting peace and reducing human suffering. It is hoped that under the shadow of divine guidance, interfaith dialogue will expand further and pave the way for the good of mankind.

“I have had the opportunity to meet and talk with some of the most esteemed leaders of the Catholic Church in recent years, and I hope that in the near future, I will be able to meet with His Eminence (the pope) as well, so that we can further exchange views on issues of common concern.”
