IQNA – Slamming stances of Kuwaiti qari Mishary Rashid al-Afasi in justifying the American-Zionist aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, a Yemeni Quran reciter call for boycotting al-Afasi.

Yemeni Qari Muhammad Hassan Ali al-Kabari

Speaking in an interview with IQNA, Muhammad Hassan Ali al-Kabari suggested that professional boycott of al-Afasi should be seriously pursued and hosting him in official gatherings should be suspended.

The position of al-Afasi and his supporters, whom Satan has overcome, is a humiliating and absurd position, because they have remained silent in the face of the blood of the residents of the Gaza Strip, the people of Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine, and they cooperate in the oppression and aggression against us Muslims, and it is not surprising that they move in the ranks of Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump, al-Kabari said.

He added that the dissemination of extremist discourse by an influential figure like al-Afasi will harm Islamic unity and lead to the weakening of trust in religious organizations, and will also tarnish the image of Islam in the world and feed the phenomenon of Islamophobia.

Asked about the duty of Quranic activists, reciters, and memorizers of the Islamic world against this deviant position, al-Kabari said these groups must adopt a firm stance focused on reform and issue a statement to support the sanctity of the Quran against insulting behaviors against the Word of Revelation.

Measures should be pursued such as direct contact with al-Afasi to explain his wrong actions from a religious and customary perspective and call on him to repent and apologize publicly, explaining the moral and religious standards that the bearers and people of the Quran must adhere to with the aim of raising social awareness, professional boycott by suspending hosting al-Afasi in official gatherings and Quranic chairs until the approach is corrected, and avoiding giving legitimacy to his deviation, the Yemeni qari stated.

He went on to say that strengthening role models by focusing on explaining real models who combine good recitation and good morals and introducing them to young people are other measures that should be taken in this regard.

Referring to the need to remove the recitations of this Kuwaiti reciter from radio and television networks, mass media and social networks, al-Kabari said, “I agree with removing al-Afasi’s recitations so that he becomes aware, and the duty of reciters, Quran memorizers and media activists is also to warn against the deviation of al-Afasi’s stances.”

Asked about the reaction of public opinion and Yemeni Quran activists to this incident, he said Yemeni Quran reciters and activists have clearly stated their positions on this issue and have declared their disavowal of al-Afasi; just as the free people of the Islamic world have adopted brilliant and proud positions on this issue; because God says in Verse 18 of Surah Hajj: ‘And whoever Allah humiliates, for him there is no one to honor.’”
