A Qari Who Supports Falsehood Front Should Be Removed from Quranic Arenas
Mehdi Qarasheikhlou, referring to the recent stance of a Kuwaiti reciter, Mashary Rashid Al-Afasi, in support of the US and Zionist regime’s aggression on Iran, emphasized that a Quran reciter must stand by the front of the truth at historical junctures.
Anyone who helps strengthen the falsehood front with his behavior and stances loses the right to be present in the Quranic arenas, he stated in an interview with IQNA.
This behavior (Al-Afasi’s support for aggressors) is not unprecedented because he had previously adopted a similar stance during the Saudi attack on Yemen, Qarasheikhlu said, adding when a behavior is repeated and continues, it indicates a deep error in the individual's intellectual system.
The Secretary of the Supreme Coordination Headquarters for the National Quran Competitions added, “Fortunately, our country has extensive and valuable Quranic capacities, and by relying on these assets, we can replace (recitations by qaris like Al-Afasi with those by) people who technically meet global standards.”
He said that today, every common sense person understands that in this unequal war, the Islamic Republic of Iran is right. “In such circumstances, a person who considers himself to be related to the Quran not only does not support the front of the truth and the oppressed, but also calls on the front of arrogance and disbelief to bomb the front of truth. It is obvious that society should reject such a person and not tolerate his presence in all Quranic arenas, including public, specialized, and media.”

Explaining the reasons for the deviation of the reciter and his inability to distinguish right from wrong despite numerous verses of the Quran that teach us about it, he stated, “One of the most important factors is the superficial and apparent connection with the Quran. This connection has not reached depth. Imam Sadiq (AS) says these people observe the appearance of the Quran well, but they are indifferent to the inner (meanings).”
Qarasheikhloo continued, “Such people practically behave contrary to the teachings of the Quran. The result of this approach is that not only do they not receive divine approval, but according to Hadith, they may recite the Quran beautifully, but the same Quran will curse them because their behavior is in conflict with the Quranic standards.”
He concluded by saying that those who are associated with the Quran are expected not to make mistakes in discernment during sedition and to be able to guide society to the right path.
