As part of a prominent scientific and cultural event that reflects the growing interest in the history of the Holy Quran in Russia, Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, hosted the special exhibition of Quranic works.

The event was held at the closing ceremony of the International Holy Quran Competition in the republic.

It took place in the Small Theater Hall of Tatarstan State University, where a number of books on the topic of Quranic studies in Russia were presented, reflecting the intellectual and cultural importance of this Islamic heritage in the country, according to the Muslimsaround theworld website.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the first Russian edition of the Holy Quran, translated by Pyotr Postnikov under the order of Tsar Peter the Great in 1726 under the title “The Quran or the Muhammadan Law.” This allowed visitors to get acquainted with important aspects of the history of that era.

Also, Murad Safarov, a well-known Russian researcher and media figure, presented his book “One Hundred Amazing Facts About the Quran in Russia,” which explored a wide range of remarkable historical facts. These facts included Muslims swearing on the Quran during the Tsarist era, the writing of the first translation of the Quran into Slavic languages, and information documenting the history of Islam in Russia.

The event coincides with the celebrations of Kazan’s election as the capital of the Islamic world in 2026. The city is hosting a series of religious, cultural and scientific events, including the international Quran competition, which will strengthen its position as a center for intercultural and intellectual dialogue and highlight its historical role in serving Islam and the Holy Quran.
