Ahmad Abolqassemi called for greater public exposure to the recitation of the Quran, saying it is the most important step toward spreading Quranic culture in society.
He made the remarks on Monday at the closing ceremony of the national “Life with Verses” Quranic campaign held in Hamedan, western Iran.
He said there is a strong emphasis on reciting the Quran with a beautiful voice so that people will listen to it and eventually memorize it.
"Throughout the day, at least 10 to 15 minutes of Quranic verses should reach people's ears, even unintentionally," Abolghasemi said.
He suggested that recordings of Quranic recitation could be played on buses, in subways, in mosques, and in public spaces.
He also encouraged people to hold Quran gatherings in their homes alongside traditional prayer ceremonies.
The senior qari explained that any verse of the Quran can be memorized in a short amount of time if it is repeated often enough.
Asked about the effect of Quran memorization on a person's life, Abolqassemi said that memorizing verses helps people derive a way of living directly from the scripture.
“When we memorize the verses, we receive our lifestyle from those same verses,” he said. “We do not get caught up in the outward appearances of religion.”
He added that familiarity with the Quran brings blessings to one's life.

He also said that placing certain verses alongside one another can reveal valuable lessons for better living.
Abolqassemi ended with an appeal to all believers. “Whatever position we hold and wherever we are, we must strive to raise the banner of the Quran and make our maximum effort along this path.”
